PEI IT Alliance helps new grad get hired in the IT industry through Q&A event

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island - On November 17th, 2022 PEI IT Alliance partnered with Atlantic Student Development Alliance (ASDA) to chat with post-secondary students, postgraduate students, recent grads, and people building their IT skills, in order to help them work or pivot their careers into IT. The event took place at the Startup Zone.

The PEI IT Alliance met Jutta Baffoe at the Q&A event and connected her to IT leaders on PEI. Because of this, the recent Business graduate from the University of Prince Edward Island was employed with PEI IT Alliance member, Stemble Learning Inc.

Questions that get asked frequently about the industry are: what is the IT and tech industry like in PEI? What are the opportunities? What skills do I need to be hired? The PEI IT Alliance sat down in small groups to answer all these questions from attendees. They shared their stories and career aspirations, so that the Alliance could support them, share the stories, and connect them with members of the IT community. The Alliance acknowledged the diversity coming into the sector as most of the attendees were newcomers to PEI.

The PEI IT Alliance has introduced many of the attendees to business leaders on PEI, helped place the job-seekers in companies, and ignited conversations that continue to bring the IT community together.
