The IT Alliance is a not-for-profit focused in the Information Technology sector on Prince Edward Island. Founded in 2022, it now represents more than 1,400 pure-play IT individuals and companies. The IT Alliance is gearing up for an exciting phase of growth which will include a recast of the strategic plan, introduction of programming to support high-growth IT companies in PEI (including the introduction of "Velocity", a new home for tech and tech-enabled start-ups), and roll-out of additional tactics to strengthen the IT sector overall.

Job brief

We are seeking a passionate and proactive Community Manager to join our team. The Community Manager will play a crucial role to build and nurture our community of tech companies and their employees, foster engagement, and create a vibrant and supportive environment. The ideal candidate is a natural connector with excellent communication skills and a deep understanding of the local and regional tech ecosystem.

Ultimately, the successful candidate will work with functional team members, member organizations, funding and ecosystem partners to help guide the refinement of a multi-year strategic plan, and lead its execution across a number of key priority / focus areas, most notably launching Velocity and its programming.

Day-to-day responsibilities may include (but are not necessarily limited to):

Community Engagement:

• Develop and implement strategies to grow and engage Velocity and the broader PEI IT Alliance community.
• Organize and host events, meetups, and webinars to foster networking and knowledge sharing.
• Manage and moderate online community platforms, including social media groups, forums, and newsletters.

Member Support:

• Serve as the primary point of contact for community members, addressing inquiries and providing support.
• Onboard new members and ensure they are well-integrated into the community.
• Gather feedback from members and use it to improve community initiatives and offerings.

Content Creation:

• Create engaging and relevant content, including blog posts, newsletters, and social media updates.
• Collaborate with industry experts to produce valuable resources and content for the community.

Partnerships and Collaboration:

• Identify and build relationships with key stakeholders, including local businesses, educational institutions, and industry leaders.
• Collaborate with partners to develop joint initiatives and programs that benefit the community.

Analytics and Reporting:

• Monitor and analyze community engagement metrics to assess the effectiveness of initiatives.
• Provide regular reports on community growth, engagement, and feedback to the leadership team.

Qualifications:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with event planning and execution.
• Proficiency in using social media platforms, community management tools, and content creation software.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Passion for fostering community and helping others succeed.

Note: given the growth objectives of the IT Alliance and introduction of Velocity, there is a "scaling up" element to this role, allowing the desired individual to flex across a multitude of areas, playing a critical part in evolving the JD and overall team construction over time.

Education: Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

Job Type: Full-time

Work Location: Charlottetown, PEI (in-person only)

Salary range: $55,000 - 75,000 per annum
